Justice and Solicitor General helps ensure that Albertans can live in safe and resilient communities while having access to a fair and innovative justice system. It ensures that public affairs are administered according to law. Working alongside its partners in law enforcement, family justice, health, the judiciary, the criminal justice system, and other stakeholders, the ministry has a direct and shared responsibility in all elements of the justice system in Alberta. Its programs and services help ensure Albertans’ security and access to justice through efficient functioning of courts, corrections, and law enforcement.

Your strategic leadership will be key to the planning and development of operational activities within the Queen’s Bench Administration (QBA). With a focus on service excellence, you will provide advice to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Resolution and Court Administration Services and the Chief Justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta to inform decisions on key priorities and directions. Applying a systems approach, you will work with your team to drive and influence development of new business processes to meet the evolving needs of the Court and the Albertans it serves. This role demands an agile, collaborative leader, who is able to navigate complex issues and ambiguity with confidence and thoughtful decision making. Collaboration and trusted relationships with members of the Ministry, Court and key stakeholders is critical as you champion enhancements and innovative practices in the Court of Queen’s Bench Administration.
You bring extensive related senior management experience overseeing complex operations in a large, service-oriented organization. Your background reflects an understanding of the issues impacting court administration services, and a systems approach to developing processes that promote innovation and sustainability. You are a progressive leader with demonstrated strengths in facilitating organizational change, building capacity, and inspiring excellence in your teams. Proven negotiation and collaboration skills, diplomacy, and sensitivity to protocol issues in fostering relationships with diverse stakeholders are essential. Knowledge of federal and provincial statutes and regulations along with a related degree is preferred. A law degree is required for this role.
$125,318 – $197,630 ($4,801.47 – $7,572.04 bi-weekly)
Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies across government.
